The Beast That Shouted I At The Heart Of The World

Der Oldenhiemer

I know I've posted about this in a previous post, probably a year ago, but it's been on my mind lately. Plus this is for a particular reader who wanted me to update this (so here you go). As you know I read Naruto manga, I am so far that I already know what happens after episode 82 of Shippuden and I think the manga is going to end in another year or so. Now in one particular chapter Naruto meets up with Shikamaru (he's the lazy genius if you've forgotten), he and Naruto have an interesting talk. Now if you care about the plot I suggest you stop reading this part entirely because I kind of hint who the "king" is if you know what I mean. Shikamaru says "pretty soon, you'll be the one treating some kid to ramen and he'll call you Naruto-sensei". For anyone who says comics and manga don't teach anyone anything, this one made me realize how old I was and I think I read this during the summer or at least around the end of my second year. It's crazy, it's been like two years since I came to Long Beach and my friends who are the same age as me some what feel old too. But to think that one day I might be the role model for some kid or underclassmen it sounds strange. To be someone's "Dai-Ge" (roughly translated to "big bro" thats what Triad members refer to thier seniors it's like "aniki" for the Yakuza) and talk to them about the crazy things in thier lives because I've probably been there too (one of my readers is my Dai-Ge you know who you are =P).

But overall getting old is like a double edged sword, you gain wisdom but at the same time lose your youth. Plus some women aren't into old men (I'm not sure about the girl I like, since I'm like a year or two older than her) since some women have a pretty low limit sometimes. For me I don't mind, it's just that I hope that I can accomplish what I can while I'm still young, like finding a job that suits my degree so I won't have to come back when I'm 30 as an undergraduate for another degree in something that's more suitable, or find a girl friend so I can experience a relationship (but I suck at that as per my girl posts, will I ever win her heart?) and lastly being able to find that kid who was like me and serve as a role model for them so that when I leave here they'll remember the impact I left on them. So thats the mindless rant of the day, tune in next time when I'll post another look into a pitch III.

  • Feeling your age, are you? I actually feel that the real "right of passage" in this day and age is not turning 18 or 21, not even getting your first job or even getting married. The right of passage in today's culture should be similar to the great tests of old, something you have to learn or grasp as an epiphany. I think you touched that in your post with the "king" and the ramen analogy. The hardest obstacle in todays society is not focusing on oneself. Our society revolves on US attaining a job, US attaining a girlfriend, US having the American dream....now to step aside and to invest in another person without any motive of achieving one of these American goals, now that should be a right of passage.
trust me, girls will start wising up and stop chasing boys anymore (as my friend would say, their eggs are drying up!) but soon they'll be searching for Men. Dont be afraid to lose your youth, there are greater rewards in store. Now go feed some kid some ramen =)
