Surprising Things I See Sometimes in Parenting

Well another post that isn't about anime or girls (sorry Cliff =P). One of the things that my parents did when I was little was do the things they did. For instance drink coffee. I mean it's common sense to not give your kid coffee since it has caffine and kids + caffine= a nuclear explosion of energy in them. I write this since I was walking on campus and I saw a little kid drinking some coffee drink from Starbucks (they opened one in our library and its the only thing that gets people to go there sometimes). Now I don't know if the stuff was decaffinated or not but honestly it tells me two things: one parents will get their kids anything to shut them up and two Starbucks coffee is not coffee at all its basically a bunch of whipped cream and other unnatural ingredients that masks any trace of coffee. If I were that kid's age and I saw my parents drinking some fancy Starbucks coffee, they wouldn't get me one or let me try it for that matter.

Sure I would get upset and cry, but it's like what my parents usually told me when I was little "you won't like it". If we can get children to drink coffee whats stopping them from drinking a non-alcholic beer. Honestly people I hope for my readers that one day you raise your kids up right. Call me conservative (I'm usually a dirty liberal) but what has parenting come down to. I see parents putting leashes on their kids at Disneyland (which are not cleverly disguised as monkeys) if your kid has to be put on a leash it's equilvalent to putting old people on leashes at home. I mean teach your kid to behave and raise them up right. We complain about childhood obesity and yet a kid can get away with drinking Starbucks. I fear that when my generation has children it's going to be scary. I just hope that when I have a kid (I want a daughter a son is alright too, but I have a cute name for a girl: Rei) I want them to be well behaved, not exactly like a little adult or anything but they know what they can do and can't do. I know this all seems like idealism, but I truly hope that when I become a father (if I do anyways, I think I'll remain single forever) like any parent I want them to grow up right. So I don't know how this post turned into a post about parenting when I was ranting about a kid drinking coffee, but anyways more or less if you don't see my point about parenting just raise your kid right and alls right with the world.
