Co-ed Dorming?

I read the most interesing article in my school paper (you should try it sometime) about the possibility of co-ed dorming. You're probably saying "but Jeff, we already do have that" yeah well what I mean is a guy and a girl living in the same room. I guess it's to accomidate homosexuals or transexuals, if they prefer to have a room mate of a different sex. I read that twenty percent of male students wouldn't mind doing it. I don't know call me conservative, but I think its a bad idea. I know that on paper it sounds like a good idea, they use an example like a good friend or sibling rooming, and the idea of making a blind that covers the sides. I mean reading this it sounds like a strong argument, but its not.

Why, well heres what I think. Girls are at the point where they get that special female feeling. If you don't know what I mean their period, there I said it to any female female readers I'm sorry, this is for the stupid guy in all of us. I'm pretty sure the last thing that a girl wants is to have a guy around to "aid" in her recovery. Blaring loud music, friends over and the overall misunderstandings. Another thing are messes. Guys are prone to flith, I'll admit that I have my moments too. Girls are naturally want to keep things neat, guys don't care. So then it leads to unhappiness and a hostile enviornment. Plus if its with a guy or girl you've never met, *ahem can you say "rape?" and "unwanted pregnancy?". In the words of Caboose from Red vs Blue "I do not want to catch pregnancy". But yeah, in order to counter something like this the school has to run an extensive background check, to make sure the guys aren't prone to sexual assault. That in turn costs money, which raises housing fees and empties the pockets of poor college students. What I'm trying to say here is that for something like this to truly work schools are going to have to invest lots of time and money that they might not have. The only times that something like this can work is in anime (Love Hina and Tenchi anyone?), so other than that it just doesn't work.
