If the person loses, death is what awaits and the ghost is free to wander as a demon. Winning, causes the ghost to be sealed away in a crystal called spirit coral. Thier soul is sealed inside, if that person is to die they can use the crystal to offer the soul in their place to die. The soul dies and is sealed away in demon purgatory.

Ryo gains the ability to create custom shells and bullets. He learned by means of zip learning, think the Matrix when Neo learned kung fu and when Trinity learned to pilot a helicopter in seconds. The same principle applies. The bullets are not your usual types. Some are blanks, but when the right amount of spirit energy is charged into them it focuses the bullet's shot into a powerful beam.
